Albufeira Marina is a relatively recent addition to the area with its colourful deco style buildings and fantastic moorings for all types of craft. The Marina has restaurants, a gallery and hosts various events. Beaches There are more than 20 beaches in the area around Albufeira  and we are fortunate that we have a number of excellent Blue Flag beaches very close to the villa including  Sao Raphael, Castello. Everisto and Gale. There are beaches 25 minutes walk away, otherwise  a short drive in the car. Stretching from Albufeira Marina there are sandy coves with wonderful rock pools and nearly every beach has its own beach bar. All the beach bars serve fabulous fresh fish, especially sardines! Albufeira  6kms. Once known by its 8th Century Arab inhabitants as ”Castle of the Sea” Albufeira, one of the best holiday destinations, still evokes memories of its past in the older parts of the town, with its white houses, narrow streets, painted fishing boats and remnants of its old fortress.
